You may have a business case, for example, where you want to display a banner in a SharePoint document library to notify people that the contents have moved. You can have a Call to Action link that points to the new location, or links to a web page that provides further details, or even to another help item. The Call to Action link allows you to give users the option of getting additional information by clicking a link in the banner. You can easily add a Call to Action link in a banner following these steps:
- In the Editor window with Banner selected as the Media Type, click the Link Help Item drop down:
- Select the Help item you wish to link to. Only Help items that are in the scope in which you are creating your help item will be displayed.
Adding a link with custom optionsYou may wish to have more control over the link being created. In those situations, you can use the Insert/Edit Link button to construct the link as you wish. In the following example, we use this method to create a link to a help item outside of the current item’s scope.
- Highlight the text you wish to add a link to and then click the Insert/Edit Link icon:
The text you highlighted will automatically be entered into the Text to display field:
- Copy the link for any help item in the VisualSP Help panel and paste it into the URL field:
The URL you pasted will automatically be converted to the format needed once you click the Save button.
