You may have a business case, for example, where you want to display a banner in a SharePoint document library to notify people that the contents have moved. You can have a Call to Action link that points to the new location, or links to a web page that provides further details, or even to another help item. The Call to Action link allows you to give users the option of getting additional information by clicking a link in the banner. You can easily add a Call to Action link in a banner following these steps:
- In the Editor window with Banner selected as the Media Type, click the Link Item drop down:
- Select the Help item you wish to link to. Only Help items that are in the scope in which you are creating your help item will be displayed.
Adding a link with custom options
You may wish to have more control over the link being created. In those situations, you can use the Insert/Edit Link button to construct the link as you wish. In the following example, we use this method to create a link to a help item outside of the current item’s scope.
- Highlight the text you wish to add a link to and then click the Insert/Edit Link icon:
- Copy the link for any help item in the VisualSP Help panel and paste it into the URL field.
The URL you pasted will automatically be converted to the format needed once you click the Save button.
