Display a video as a Help item

You may display a video as a Help item, either by storing the video in Stream and embedding the video, or linking to it from OneDrive or a SharePoint document or site asset library. These instructions will cover linking directly to a MP4 file in OneDrive or SharePoint.

Note

Videos must be in .mp4 format to display properly as a Help item.

  1. In your OneDrive or SharePoint library, select the MP4 file
  2. Click Copy Link
  3. Change the Share options to People with existing access

  4. In you Help item editor, select Video as the media type

  5. Give the Help item a title and optional description
  6. Paste the link you copied in Step 2 into the URL or Path to Help Media window. Delete the part of the URL AFTER mp4, including the question mark.

  7. Click the Preview button to confirm the video plays properly
  8. From the Group drop-down menu, select the heading under which the Help Item will be listed
  9. Scroll to the bottom and click on Save

YouTube video

For a YouTube video you have two options.

  1. Select YouTube Video as the media type and paste the URL to the YouTube video in the Url or Path to Help Media window
  2. Select Custom EMBED or OBJECT Tag as the media type and paste the YouTube embed code in the Url or Path to Help Media window
