Subscription Admins, App Admins and Editors – what they are and how to add them

Applies to: VisualSP
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

As a Subscription Administrator you can delegate roles to members of your team to help manage VisualSP. There are three roles in VisualSP:

  1. Subscription Administrators have full access to the subscription and can specifically do the following:
    1. Manage users
    2. Manage permissions for all app scopes and create/delete security groups for all app scopes
    3. View analytics
    4. Edit/Add/Delete all help items and groups
    5. View draft items

If you need to update your Subscription Administrator, please email us at support at visualsp.com and we will take care of that for you.

  2. App Administrators manage security and content for specific app scopes they've been assigned to. They can:
    1. Manage permissions for the specific app scope to which they have been granted App Administrator rights (so they can add other app administrators to the app scoped security group and they can add editors to existing app scoped security groups but they’ll need a subscription admin to actually create the groups)
    2. View Analytics
    3. Edit/Add/Delete help items and groups associated with the specific app scope that they have access to
    4. View draft items
  3. Editors manage content only for the app scope they have been added to. They can:
    1. View Analytics
    2. Edit/Add/Delete help items and groups associated with the specific app scope that they have access to
    3. View draft items

To get to the Manage Permissions page, click on the VisualSP Help tab > menu > Manage My Subscription:

On the Manage Subscriptions page, click on the Permissions tab:

Your out-of-the-box configuration of VisualSP includes one Subscription Administrator permission group.

Create a New Group

  1. To create a new permission group, click on the green Add Group button. Give the new group a name, then select the appropriate permission level from the drop down menu:

  1. You can specify a limited scope or scroll down and select All App Scopes.

  1. Type in the email address of the user you would like to add to the group and click on the "+" icon. The user’s email address domain has to match the subscription domain name, otherwise, you will get an error saying that “This email address does not match the email pattern for your subscription …” You will also notice that the first name and last name of an added user who has never logged into the system before will be listed as “Unknown, Unknown“. Once the user logs into the system for the first time, their first and last name will be shown. You can add as many people as you like to the group.
