Working with Help item templates

When creating a new Help item you can either start from scratch or use a template to get you started. We have loaded some preconfigured templates to the template gallery but you can also save your own custom help items as templates by clicking the Save as Template button at the bottom of the Help item editor window:

To start with one of our preconfigured templates, just click the tile of the design you like:

This will open the Editor window with the default settings set to the template you selected. In the example template above, which is a walkthrough, you should update the Title and Group name, then click the Walkthrough Builder tab:

This will take you to the Core Properties screen of the Walkthrough Builder window:

Customize your help item by editing the content. If the template has a Call-to-Action (CTA) button, you can configure the text of the button and where to button URL will lead to.

Changing the CTA text

  1. Select the Events section of the Walkthrough editor
  2. Select On Call-to-Action from the drop down
  3. Click Open an URL
  4. Paste your URL
Make sure you save your work by clicking the Save button.
