Add visualsp-online-sp2019.sppkg to SharePoint 2019 On-prem App Catalog

Applies to: SharePoint 2019
If you want to provide support for New Experience (Modern UI) pages in a SharePoint 2019 on-prem environment, you must add the VisualSP Online SP 2019 Extension (visualsp-online-sp2019.sppkg) file to the SharePoint App Catalog and mark it as available to all sites. To do this, follow these instructions.
  1. Click here to download visualsp-online-sp2019.sppkg
  2. Visit your SharePoint 2019 Central Administration site
  3. Go to Apps > App Catalog
If you already have an App Catalog created, click on the Site URL to open the App Catalog:

If you don't already have an app catalog, you can easily create a new app catalog by accepting the default Create a new app catalog site selection and clicking OK.

This will take you to the Create App Catalog page. Fill in the Title, URL, and Primary Site Collection Administrator:

Click OK. After a while a new App Catalog will be created and you will be redirected to the Manage App Catalog page. Go ahead and click on the Site URL to open the App Catalog.

  1. On the next page, click on the Apps for SharePoint link in the quick launch.

Your page will look like this:

Note: You must be using the Classic view of this library; if it is displaying in Modern view, switch to Classic view.
  1. Click Upload and select the visualsp-online-sp2019.sppkg you downloaded in step 1.
  2. Check the box for Make this solution available to all sites in the organization and click the Deploy button:
A successful installation will look like this:

If you receive an App Package Error Message stating, "Deployment failed," as shown here, simply delete the .sppkg file and repeat steps 5 and 6 to redeploy.
  1. Run, or return to, the VisualSP Site Collection Configuration Wizard and complete the installation.
Important

Users need to have Read access to the App Catalog or else the VSP Help tab will not appear on Modern pages.

Note

Loading the sppkg file to the app catalog alone is not enough to display the VisualSP Help tab on Modern pages. Deployment to a site collection with the Installation Wizard or PowerShell is still required before the Help tab will appear.
