Automatically Show Help Items when a User Visits a Page

Applies to: VisualSP
Any help item can be configured to automatically appear on any page one or more times when a user visits that type of page. For example, you can have a help item appear the first 5 times a user visits a certain page. You can configure this in the Help editor by going to Load Behavior in SETTINGS:

Here you will find the Auto Show on Load options:

This field accepts one or more numerical values. For example, type in 1, 3, 5-8 and the help item will appear the first, the third, and on visits number 5-8. When a value is entered in this field, the Start date field appears with tomorrow's date filled in by default. This field can be used if you would like to show the item only after a certain date (for example after a release of some functionality). There is also an optional End date field, which is useful if the Help item is no longer relevant after a certain date. By filling in the end date, the Help item will no longer display after that date. For banners only, you have the additional option of the Continue auto-load even if user dismisses toggle.

It is best practice to apply an auto show on load to a new help item. This way the load counter will start at zero for everyone. If you wish to test the auto show on load, we suggest you open a browser window in Incognito mode. This way there won't be any caching issues and it will represent a truer user experience.
