Create a Help Item that will Auto Show on Load with Every Page Visit

Applies to: VisualSP Online
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Scenario:

You have a Human Resources page where you would like to display a notice every time a user visits the page.

Solution:

Currently VisualSP doesn’t offer the ability to configure a help item so that it displays with every page visit. This feature is on our roadmap and will eventually become available through the Help System Management window. However, until then, here is a work around that will accomplish the same result.

  1. Create a Help Item
  2. Disable Edit Mode

  1. Click on the Link icon for the Help Item you just created

  1. The Share Link will be saved to your clipboard

  1. Wherever you have a link to the page, edit the link and replace it with the address in your clipboard. For example, in the Quick Links section of a Classic SharePoint site, click on EDIT LINKS

  1. Click on HR Documents

  1. Paste the link into the Address field and click OK

Now every time someone clicks on the link, the page will open and the Help Item will automatically start.
